Take Us Out To The Ballgame

While playing with his ballpark souvenir before bed, Graham said, "I had fun tonight. I really had fun." And with that, my day was made.

The souvenir, mini batting helmets for each MLB team, replaced our regular reading routine. We each picked out our helmets and Graham asked, "Which ones do you have, Daddy?"

I ran down the list: "Houston Astros, LA Dodgers, Oakland A's, Atlanta Braves, Cincinnati Reds ...."

Graham shared his group. Sort of: "Eddie Murray, Cal Ripken, Earl Weaver, Jim Palmer, Sultan of Swat, Chris Davis, Brian Matusz ...."

It's fair to say he's heard a bit about Orioles baseball.

After a couple of brief ballpark outings early in the season that failed to keep Graham's interest, we made it through the entire game tonight and stayed afterward for kids run the bases. Aubrey ran the bases for the first time while stationed in the Ergo aboard Erica.

Graham was proud of himself for being brave and facing his fear of the bull who snorts smoke and whose eyes light up after home runs. He had me tell his Wool E. Bull stuffed animal about his bravery once we got home.
