May Our Home Be Filled With Laughter





Aubrey is finding her voice. She doesn't use words, but she makes herself heard. Graham often has something to do with the noise, either by making her laugh or by frustrating her. Blessed are the moments, like this evening, when it's the former.

Keeping It Simple At Storytime


Graham opened his duck book and asked me to read to him.

I read from the page: "A game of tag, some hide-and-seek. Count to ten - watch out, don't peek!"

"What are the ducks saying?" he asked.

I considered the question for a moment and realized that he wasn't simply asking me to read the lines again.

"They're counting to 10," I replied. "1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10."

Then I went for extra credit.

"Maybe they're Spanish ducks," I added. "Uno. Dos. Tres. Cuatro. Cinco. Seis. Siete. Ocho. Nueve. Diez."

Graham smiled and said, "I think they're saying 'Quack. Quack. Quack.'"
